Empowering API producers & consumers to innovate faster.
Product Design
Overview
Verizon’s API First initiative is a developer ecosystem designed to accelerate software creation through direct access to network capabilities. The platform focuses on developer velocity by offering streamlined workflows, standardized protocols, and a centralized hub for API reuse. By combining robust management tools with enterprise-grade security, it empowers developers to rapidly deploy innovative solutions.
Accelerating Innovation
We start by Helping producers onboard their APIs Quickly and easilY.
Creating a dedicated workspace for developers to centrally manage the end-to-end lifecycle of their APIs with colleagues with the API First Platform Producer Portal. These lifecycle activities include everything from API design, development and revision management to API documentation, testing, deployment and consumer support.
Building with ease
once an api is published, we make it easy to consume the API and build your product.
The API First Hub is an all-in-one Consumer Portal designed to simplify how internal teams interact with Verizon’s broad array of APIs. By unifying the discovery, documentation, and management phases, the Hub allows developers to move from "searching" to "ingesting" with minimal friction. It provides a clear, self-service path for teams to verify functionality, gain secure access, and manage their API lifecycle in one place.
discoverING Verizon apis
Next, we eliminate the need to rebuild what’s already been built.
Why build something that already exists? The Capability Map eliminates the "build vs. reuse" dilemma by providing a centralized, exploratory repository for our API ecosystems. It offers an intuitive interface where consumers can easily navigate technical capabilities by category, gain deep functional insights, and seamlessly request access for their applications. By providing total visibility into existing assets, the tool accelerates development timelines and reduces technical debt. Of all the tools I built for Verizon, I am most proud of this one.
